Mount Field National Park

I flew to Tasmania where I met my travel companions, Subodh dai, Rekha bhauju and I drove to visit the spectacular Mount Field National Park. One of the oldest and most diverse national park of Tasmania, is also known as "the park for all seasons". Comprising of glaciated landscapes and waterfalls which were formed when horizontal beds of soft rock eroded back to more resistant rock that had vertical faces; views are simply breath-taking. The three-tiered Russel-falls is one of the best waterfalls I have seen in Tasmania and Horseshoe Falls a tiered cascade waterfall which is located a short walk from Russel Falls compliments the overall walk for visitors.

Taking the stroll inside the national park we were surrounded by swamp gum eucalyptus reganans which are among the tallest trees in Australia. Sound of wind blowing down the trees during the walk felt surreal and we got to use clinometer to measure the height of the trees which was definitely a new experience for us.

Although, we could not visit Lady Barron Falls this time, this has been added to our re-do list (yes, a re-do list).
