Great Otway National Park

I kicked off my 2024 travel by embarking on a journey to the Great Otway National Park. This national park is one of the largest national park in Victoria sprawling across 103,185 hectares and is renowned for its diverse ecosystems, ancient rainforest, coastal cliffs and eucalyptus forest.

First stop was the Californian Redwood Forest. These towering trees are truly magical to see. After wandering around the forest for a while, next destination was Hopetoun Falls which is a short drive from The Redwoods. The trail is fun, winding through lush greenery and the views of the falls itself was nothing short of spectacular.

As the day unfolded, the grand finale awaited at Beauchamp Falls. While the trail was a bit long, I enjoyed every step of the hike. Walking down the forest along the creek is so therapeutic and the trail itself consists of small bridges and ladders which makes it even better. At the end of the trail comes the magnificent falls where the water comes crashing down 25m into the large pool below.

While the day concluded at this falls, there is so much more to see at this national park such as Triplet Falls, Aire Crossing, Melba Gully, Johana Beach, Cape Otway Lightstation, etc.. and rest assured I will be back for the remaining destinations.

Gentle cadence of waves, the fine sands underfoot and the encompassing national parks.
